Future Terrie Vs YOLO Terrie

I spent most of the week "camped" near Shenandoah National Park. It was a much needed escape. Everything I felt I lacking, the visit supplied me. I can't help but think of 'Walden'. I know. I know. Not Walden, again. Depending on how long you've been following, you may have heard me reference Thoreau's work a gazillion times. There I was, in that moment again.

That type of solitude allows for a lot of introspection. It gives me the courage to walk around my unconscious and open the doors of the feelings I've compartmentalized. Every emotion that I let out, forms a group in my mind's courtyard. There's no beefs, only confusion and curiosity. Here is where, Future Terrie and YOLO Terrie decide who temporarily takes the lead. Neither one is ever boss for long.

YOLO Terrie is urgent, whimsy and needs instant gratification. YT thinks "NOW, NOW, NOW" cause tomorrow isn't promised. Future Terrie is calm and hopeful. FT believes all things work out as they should and requires a plan and strategy. YT, not so much.

There's a place for both of them.

To exert myself in the Shenandoah Mountains was nothing short of perfect. I started writing a new book that I'm super excited about and I'll be that way until I'm not.

On day 3, I look up from writing and notice for the first time, books on the small shelf. There sat 'Walden'.

I stole it. Which is sooooo Future Terrie.
